America's Longest War

Operation Enduring Freedom was launched on October 7, 2001 when the U.S. began bombing Taliban and Al- Qaeda forces in Afghanistan.  Nine years later, the U.S. has bombed its way into the history books, making the Afghan War the longest in America's history. Longer than the Vietnam War. It is also quickly becoming the most expensive war in America's history with President Obama recently asking for even more money.

My question is, why don't we see the same reaction from American civilians that we witnessed during the Vietnam War?  Sure, there are much less deaths, but this war is going on at a time when the U.S. is drowning in debt and it's people are falling into poverty at astonishing rates.  The only good news I found was that, 6 in 10 Americans continue to oppose the war in Afghanistan. Maybe Americans are waking up.  The following articles will help you realize the severity of the situation.  Read and think on your own.
