(KBAK/KBFX) The Bakersfield Police Department on Tuesday said the man shot over the weekend by an officer appeared to have a rifle, which turned out to be a jack for a BMW.
Jason Lee Alderman, 29, was killed by officer gunfire at a Subway restaurant at Olive Drive and Roberts Lane.
A two-officer patrol unit was in the area around 11:20 p.m. Saturday on an unrelated investigation when they heard breaking glass, according to the department.
